What a carb cap does

A carb cap restricts airflow to the banger after you've dropped the dab. The result: lower-pressure environment inside the banger, more efficient vaporization, better terp preservation, less wasted concentrate.

Types of carb caps

• Bubble caps — round dome caps with a hole on top. Most universal — fits almost any banger, easy to use. Best for beginners.
• Directional caps — angled hole that lets you spin the airflow around the banger. Drives terp pearls and ensures even vaporization.
• Spinner caps — include a marble or pearl mechanism. Visual movement, even more even heat.
• Slurper caps — designed specifically for slurper bangers — different geometry, different airflow path.

You technically can dab without a carb cap, but you'll waste concentrate (vapor escapes), get less flavor, and use higher temps. Worth the $10–25.

When to cap during the dab

Cap timing matters as much as cap style:

• Cap immediately when dropping the dab onto a hot banger — locks in the vapor as it forms.
• Spin the cap while inhaling — directs airflow, drives terp pearls.
• Lift the cap briefly at the end — clears trapped vapor for a final pull.

Cap + terp pearls interaction

A directional or spinner cap works with terp pearls — your spinning airflow makes the pearls move, and the pearls push concentrate around the banger surface for even vaporization. Without pearls, a directional cap just changes airflow direction without the spreading effect.

Cap material choices

• Glass (borosilicate) — cheapest, fragile, can crack from thermal shock.
• Quartz — most heat-resistant, neutral flavor.
• Titanium — durable, slight metallic flavor possible, holds heat.
• Ceramic — neutral flavor, can chip.
