On a regular bong, the downstem is a separate glass tube you insert through the joint. It can fall out, slip during cleaning, or break in a drop. On a stemless bong, that downstem is fused into the bong body — usually angled directly from the joint into the water chamber, often built into a perc.

Yes — that’s exactly what a stemless bong is. The bowl sits directly on the joint, the joint angles straight into the water chamber via integrated glass. You don’t need a downstem because the bong has the function built in.
Pour through the joint (with the bowl removed) until water fills above the integrated perc holes. Use the perc itself as the marker: water should sit just above the bottom holes when you start.
Slightly. You can’t pull the downstem out for separate scrubbing, so the whole chamber gets cleaned in place. Iso + salt + shake works fine — just expect to do it more thoroughly. Resin trapped in the integrated perc takes a longer soak.
