Why a bubbler

A bubbler is a small water pipe that you hold in one hand. Bowl on top, water chamber in the middle, mouthpiece on the side or back. The function is the same as a bong (smoke through water, smoother hit) at a fraction of the size.

Compared to a dry hand pipe: way smoother, less throat scratch, more controlled hits. Compared to a full-size bong: smaller hits, less stability when set down, but goes anywhere.

Common bubbler types:

• Hammer bubbler — horizontal body shape, easy grip, sits flat.
• Sherlock bubbler — curved stem like the Sherlock pipe, looks classic.

Yes — bubblers are the most portable water pipes. Empty the water before traveling (it can leak), wrap in a small case, and you’re set.

Can a bubbler be used as a dab rig?

If it has a 14mm joint and the right geometry, yes — drop in a quartz banger and you have a small dab rig. Look for “dual-use” bubblers explicitly designed for both.
