More info

Why a rolling tray matters

A rolling tray is the workspace. Catches fallen flower, gives you room to roll, keeps the table clean. Sounds basic — but a too-small tray cramps the roll, a slick-bottomed tray slides around, and a rough surface tears papers.

What to look for

  • Wide enough for both hands plus a king-size paper laid flat (around 11″x7″ minimum)
  • A small rim around the edge to catch falls
  • A smooth metal or wood surface that won’t scratch papers
  • Weight that keeps it put on a table

Sizes

  • Small (8″x6″) — desk piece for solo rolling.
  • Medium (11″x7″) — sweet spot for most. Big enough for kings.
  • Large (14″+) — heavy users who want everything laid out.

FAQ

Does a rolling tray actually matter?

Yes if you roll often. The right size and surface make rolling 30% faster and waste less flower. If you’re rolling occasionally, any flat clean surface works.

What size rolling tray should I get?

Medium (11″x7″) is the sweet spot for most. Big enough for kings, small enough to fit on a coffee table.

Are metal or wood rolling trays better?

Metal is easier to clean and won’t warp. Wood looks better but can scratch papers if the grain is rough. Most regular smokers prefer metal.

Tray sizes and use cases

  • Small (8″x6″) — solo desk piece, fits in a drawer. One paper plus a grinder.
  • Medium (11″x7″) — sweet spot. Holds a king-size paper, grinder, lighter.
  • Large (14″+) — group rolling, full setup laid out, kit organization.

Magnetic vs. plain trays

Some metal trays have magnetic accessories (lighter holders, ashtray inserts, doob tubes) that snap to the tray surface. Convenient if you carry a kit; unnecessary if you roll at home.

Tray surface materials

  • Aluminum/metal — most common, easy to clean, durable.
  • Wood — looks better, requires more care, can stain.
  • Bamboo — light, eco-friendly, can crack with moisture.
  • Silicone — flexible, basically indestructible, harder to find well-designed.

Does the tray rim height matter?

Yes — a half-inch rim catches dropped flower without trapping it. Flush rims (no rim) waste flower constantly.

How do I clean a metal rolling tray?

Wipe with iso alcohol or soapy water. Dry fully — water trapped under the design painting can rust the tray.

I really like this rig but I was expecting it to be a little bigger. The description said 9 inches but I would say it’s more 6 inch range . I attached photo with it next to my 8 inch bubbler to show size. Most of my rigs are 4 to 6 inch range. I just wanted something a bit bigger. If was looking for something in the 6 inch range. This would be perfect. I would recommend downsizing to a 10 mm adapter. It’s not a necessity but I feel it makes the draw smoother but it’s a great rig for $100 price point. It seems to be built well and have enough to be used with an Enail.

Got what I wanted, parts were safely wrapped, overall great product. Didn’t come broken, nothing out of the ordinary.

Fast shipping and great packaging of the piece. The rig hits exactly as I hoped, with the tornado effect. The glass itself could be thicker in general. But mostly for further peace of mind. For this model, I wish it were the same height as the "double wu" rig. Worth it and great purchase experience. Especially the email customer service!

ok the recycler action on this thing is mesmerizing, watching the water cycle while you rip is half the fun. RBR colorwork is clean too, heavier than my old hammer and the pulls are way smoother. def my new daily 🔥
